The teaser of much awaited Nandita Das directorial venture Manto was premiered at 71st Cannes Film Festival 2018. Manto is based on the life of the drama writer and short story writer Sadaat Hassan Manto. The director of the film Nandita Das tells about the film that, “It’s a story of a human being who happens to be a writer. There is no relation of borders between two countries. It’s a very universal story.” She further added “I don’t think audience from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will not be able to relate with it, it’s very relatable story. I think everyone will relate with this film on different levels.The idea is to tell a story for audience. We are not putting ‘Manto’ on a pedestal,” said Nandita.
