Dr Ruth Pfau who devotedly and selfless treated and served leprosy patients since 1960 passed away at the age of 87. She died at wednesday night after undergoing a surgery. Dr Ruth had come to Pakistan from Germany in 1960, and was granted Pakistani citizenship in 1988. she was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, the second highest civilian award of the country in 1979. In 1989, She was also presented the Hilal-i-Pakistan. Dr Ruth’s last rites will be performed on 19th of August at St. Patrick’s Church in Saddar Karachi.
