This one’s a favourite and it THRILLS us to no bounds to announce that Pakistan’s Academy Selection Committee has shortlisted Mah-e-Mir as the nation’s official submission for consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film Category at The 89th Academy Awards.

It’s such a proud moment for the creators of Mah-e-Mir, a movie that received criticism about not being the average commercial film, but it did win a lot of critical acclaim for not being a run-of-the-mill film from quite a few popular sources, would now represent Pakistan on International font because of it’s beautifully crafted story and that VERY unique nature!

“I am thrilled by the news. For an ensemble of extremely creative cast and crew this film is a labor of love. Each one of us is proud to be a part of it. I would like to thank the committee for considering our effort worthy of representation and would like to take this opportunity to thank the media, cinema owners and above all the audiences for supporting us,” Mah-e-Mir director Anjum Shehzad.

Mah-e-Mir is a work of Producers, Badar Ikram and Khurram Rana, director Anjum Shahzad, and writer Sarmad Sehbai. The movie is shot in contemporary times both in modern day Karachi and 18th century Delhi. Some of the most talented actors came together came together for this movie, namely; Fahad Mustafa. Sanam Saeed, Iman Ali and Manzar Sehbai. From its conception to completion, Mah-e-Mir has been full of unexpected news and surprises! That, however, does not lessen the impact of the hard work and dedication put forth for this movie, also, the talented people behind it were a guaranty of sorts for reaching of such impossible heights!!

“I am very pleased to see that we are sending a quality film to the Academy Awards for consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film category for the fourth consecutive year. After decades of neglect, it is a matter of great pride that the Pakistani film industry has achieved so much in such brief time and speaks volumes for the inherent artistic talent of our people. I wish the makers of Mah-e-Mir the best of luck in their journey through the shortlisting process and thank them for their contribution to Pakistani cinema,” the committee’s charge d’affaires.

We have our finger’s crossed, this time not only was a movie from Pakistan selected, it would also be nominated and win too!! What do you think about this great news?!
